PE firm launches new business with simultaneous investments

We are often told by Private Equity firms that they wish to invest in new fast growing tech sectors but cannot find a large enough platform company.  Not surprising given some of this is too new to have developed scale.

Here Horizon Private Equity has solved this problem by investing in a number of businesses (ResearchBods, Bonamy Finch and LiFE) simultaneously to establish its platform, STRAT7.

Established in 2011, ResearchBods focuses on customer data collection via its ex-plor platform, while Bonamy Finch specialises in customer segmentation, brand tracking, product optimisation and predictive modelling. Start-up LiFE, a third specialist in the group, has been launched to offer data enrichment services using machine learning and AI.

I think we will see much more of this in the years to come.  I was recently talking with Investcorp about similar idea in education. There are great returns available through this approach, both for the entrepreneurs who gain capital and know-how on how to scale rapidly from experienced investors and for those investors who can get into the business early.  Real value for everyone.
