Description

Polestar is delighted to have advised on the sale of Hughes & Salvidge Waste Management Limited (“H&S”), the waste recycling business, to McCarthy Marland (“MM”), allowing it to extend the geographic reach of its existing South West sites.

The former H&S sites at Tetbury and Wantage will continue to operate using their respective trading names, Valley Trading and Aasvogel. The Hughes and Salvidge name is retained by the sellers, who continue to operate their businesses in demolition, crushing and metal recycling.

Polestar has had a long relationship with the shareholders at Hughes and Salvidge, having successfully sold their previous metal recycling business over 15 years ago and provided ad-hoc advice to the shareholders over time.

Mike Stevenson, Director at Hughes & Salvidge, commented:

“Richard understood the business from his previous involvement and was the natural choice to advise on the potential sale. After a lengthy process, and with considerable help from Polestar, the sale was completed with McCarthy Marland.”

Richard Hall, the Polestar partner leading the transaction, commented:

“Having carried out a strategic review of the waste management Aasvogel and Valley Trading sites shortly before the onset of Covid, we enjoyed a real head start in advising on this transaction. Polestar is delighted to have worked with the shareholder group once again and wishes both them and McCarthy Marland continued success in their respective ventures.”

Mathew Wilson from Blake Morgan advised on the legals.
